Why are you involved with Sutherland? The Institute exemplifies principled, conservative public policy and I feel honored to be a part of it.
Who is your favorite political figure in history and why? Ronald Reagan...he was "my" president, and he buried the Soviet Union and collapsed worldwide communism giving history a breather for another few years.
Name someone who has influenced your life and way of thinking: I try to learn from everyone who crosses my path, for good or ill...I have enjoyed my last two professional relationships the most, with Allan Carlson at The Howard Center for Family, Religion, and Society and my current colleagues at the Sutherland Institute.
What is a must-read book in your opinion? Of course, The Natural Family: A Manifesto and also The Quest for Community by Robert Nisbet.
Hometown: Bi-coastal...born in the Bay Area...grew up and married in Northern Virginia (Washington, D.C.).
First Job: Loading groceries into cars for $2.25 an hour.
Favorite television programs: Ever? Firing Line, hosted by Bill Buckley
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? Anywhere alone with Sally.
What would you like your epitaph to read? "He did his best."
